Covered California to Announce Rates and Plans for the Small Business Health Options Program

WHAT:           Covered California, the state’s new health benefit exchange, is announcing the insurance companies, plans and rates that will be offered in its small group market, the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP).  SHOP will allow small business employers to compare qualified, competing health insurance plans for private insurance companies beginning October 1, 2013.

Covered California is charged with creating a new marketplace in which individuals and small businesses can get access to affordable health insurance. With coverage starting in 2014, Covered California will help individuals compare health insurance plans and choose the one that works best for their health needs and budget.
