Covered California Certified Educators Begin Training to Inform Consumers about New Health Insurance Marketplace

WHAT: Covered California™ is launching its Certified Educator training statewide, and about 2000 educators will be certified by Covered California. These Covered California Certified Educators will focus outreach and education on 5.3 million Californians in need of health insurance. During their three day course, the educators will be taught how to disseminate clear, accurate and consistent messages that eliminate barriers, increase interest, and motivate consumers to enroll in coverage. Topics include insurance plan options, consumer eligibility and privacy, and an overview of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

WHO: Covered California Certified Educator trainees and instructors.

WHEN: Tuesday, July 16, 2013, 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Certified Educator trainees and trainers will be made available for interviews during the 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. lunch break. Classroom footage can be shot between 10 - 11:30 a.m.

The training itself is conducted over a three-day period, with sessions on Monday, July 15, and Wednesday, July 17, in addition to Tuesday, July 16.
