Rancho Cordova Site to Become a Designated Covered California Call Center

Trained Customer Service Representatives will Guide Californians through Health Care Enrollment Process

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Covered California announced today that by the end of the year it will open a state-of-the-art call center in Rancho Cordova. Representatives at the call center will guide Californians through their health coverage options and help determine if they qualify for federal financial assistance to cover some of the costs. The center will be located at 10877 White Rock Road, a facility close to bus and light rail service.

“The insurance options available through Covered California will mean that millions currently without insurance will be able to afford it – and that makes for a healthier California,” said Covered California Executive Director Peter V. Lee. “These highly skilled customer service representatives will help us educate Californians about the various options available to them and enroll them in high-quality insurance.” The service center will handle questions from Californians throughout the state.

Specially trained staff will help consumers understand the new benefits available through the Affordable Care Act, and assist them with online purchasing of Covered California health insurance products. Federal dollars fund the creation of the call centers and their initial staffing. An estimated 5.3 million Californians could benefit from enrolling in Covered California by receiving federal financial assistance, guaranteed coverage, or both.

Approximately 500 state staff fluent in multiple languages including Spanish, Cantonese and Vietnamese will work at the Rancho Cordova call center which will be fully operational for open enrollment this fall, in advance of the new coverage that starts January 1, 2014.
